Artomatic exhibit

Gibran’s “illustrator” exhibit is featured in this year’s Artomatic

Heron Gibran’s “illustrator” exhibit is featured in this year’s Artomatic (www.Artomatic.org). Illustrator is a year in the life of Heron Gibran, a year full of growth and transition. I started my own business, quit my job, and decided to pursue my art. The emptiness that grew due to my lack of creation could not be filled by my paycheck. So I was closing a chapter to open a new one. This year my art has taken me around the world from live performances in Amsterdam to creating President Obama endorsed illustrations on the rooftops of downtown L.A. It has been an exciting time filled with promise and I graciously ask you come along.

Heron Gibran interview w/ DJ Pay (aug '09)

Heron Gibran, a talented artist hailing from DC and a good friend of mine, visited Amsterdam for the 5th time again. He was here to record more songs with producers and artists from over here who he has established solid (work)relationships with over the years (Controverse, Complex etc). He also brought two of his friends with him this trip, RNL and Mr. Mojo. Heron Gibran and I have released a mixtape together in June called Black Broadway Don and besides him having a show over here, I figured it was time to do an interview to expose his talent to the rest of the world.

8 years off and this is how i come back

I haven't worked with chalk pastel in 8 years. I just snatched a pic out a rap magazine...jus like i would have done 8 years ago. I was teaching a young man how to use chalk. The overall piece has both of our drawings on it, so it was a collaborative effort.

Soulja Slim painting has been sold

The labor of love has been purchased. I shipped this out last week. We have been together so long now. I'm proud to see the painting move on. Its like a graduation. "Soulja Slim" has moved on into the real world, leaving my studio behind. The owner seen the painting at Artomatic and inquired about it. I read the email while on the beach in Jamaica...gotta love wi-fi.

Obama Day

I had better seats than anybody I know Me and Mayor Marion Barry were chillin in the Yellow seats...

Mom got the tickets the night before... we didn't wait in line either. It was so cold. I thought it was amazing. To hear all those people chant "sha na na na ...hey hey hey... goodbye" classic
