Barack endorsement

During the elections I was working on a H.E.L.P. cover for Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” speech. I was designing the Cover in L.A, watching the Democratic Convention. Asheru got the cover to Barack’s staff during the National Black Caucus. The President to be endorsed the workbook and praised the concept. We had to wait until he won before we could put the book out, but it was worth the wait. Just Knowing that Obama had my illustration in his hands and approved of his depiction means so much to me.

I had better seats than anybody I know Me and Mayor Marion Barry were chillin in the Yellow seats...

Mom got the tickets the night before... we didn't wait in line either. It was so cold. I thought it was amazing. To hear all those people chant "sha na na na ...hey hey hey... goodbye" classic

I haven't worked with chalk pastel in 8 years. I just snatched a pic out a rap magazine...jus like i would have done 8 years ago. I was teaching a young man how to use chalk. The overall piece has both of our drawings on it, so it was a collaborative effort.

The labor of love has been purchased. I shipped this out last week. We have been together so long now. I'm proud to see the painting move on. Its like a graduation. "Soulja Slim" has moved on into the real world, leaving my studio behind. The owner seen the painting at Artomatic and inquired about it. I read the email while on the beach in Jamaica...gotta love wi-fi.
